Apfelwein Wagner, Frankfurt

I arrived in Frankfurt on the last night in Germany before I flew back to Indonesia. My uncle and auntie - they live in Stuttgart - came to meet me at the hotel. It was almost 9 pm and I hadn't had a real dinner yet. I had been craving German food very much for the past week in Germany. I hadn't had real German food because my colleagues preferred to have Asian food, thus when my uncle and auntie asked me what I wanted to do that evening, my spontaneously answer was, "I want to eat authentic German food!"

First we went to a restaurant beside the Main river but unfortunately, it was fully booked by a company. We called a taxi and drove around to find another restaurant. The taxi driver recommended this authentic German restaurant called Apfelwein Wagner, which is located in the famous Sachsenhausen area.

When we got off from the taxi, we still had to walk a little bit to the restaurant. There was an event on the Schweizer straße and I was quite surprised that not only the street but also all the restaurants on that street were swarming with people.

Inside the Apfelwein Wagner.

Above the shelf, there are Apfelwein (Apple Wine or hard cider) Bembel (ceramic)

Frankfurter „Grüne Soße" mit Ochsenbrust und Bratkartoffeln - EUR 13.50
Frankfurt green sauce with braised beef and home fried potatoes.
This is one of the recommended authentic Frankfurt food.

The Green sauce is made by seven different herbs: hard-boiled eggs, oil, vinegar, salt and seven fresh herbs: borage, sorrel, garden cress, chervil, chives, parsley and salad burnet. Often it included dill, lovage, lemon balm and spinach

It tasted heavenly.

Warmer Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesoße  - EUR 4.50
Warm Apfelstrudel with Vanilla sauce.
Finally eating the authentic Apfelstrudel!

Look how sumptuous it is!
The filing combination between the sweetness and the sourness was perfect.

Mineralwasser mit Kohlensäure (Gerolsteiner) 0,70 l - EUR 4.20
Sprakling water.
Current currency:
1 EUR = IDR 15.731

This Hai Nam Asia Food restaurant is located near the main train station in Aachen, Germany. My colleagues and I went there to have a dinner before we headed back to Cologne.

The open kitchen.

The dining area. There is a fridge for beverages.

Tom Yam Gung - EUR 3.50
Thai soup with rice.

Nasi Goreng - EUR 6.90
Fried Rice.

Gebratene Reisnudeln mit knuspriger Ente - EUR 8.50
I had this dish. I really like the crispy fried duck. It was seasoned very nicely. As for the fried noodles, it tasted good.
