Yamagoya Ramen, Baywalk Mall, Jakarta

Finally the authentic Yamagoya Ramen is back again in Jakarta after the one in UOB building was closed down because of the flood in January 2013 and the other one in MOI Kelapa Gading only served chicken broth (halal) for the ramen.

The sea view from inside the restaurant.

Gyoza - Rp. 29.000
This dumpling has a good tasty filling but the skin was a bit soggy. I guess it was probably because I ate it when it was already cold.

Kimchi - Rp. 12.000
Refreshing, not too spicy for my taste bud and the sourness definitely increase my appetite.

Kakuni Cha Shu - Rp. 39.000
This wonderful grilled cha shu was slow marinated for 48 hours before the grilled process to perfection. I just loved how meltingly and tender it tasted.

Yamagoya Ramen - Rp. 58.000
This signature ramen became my favorite. It got Cha Shu, Tamago, Nori, Menma, Spring onion. The pork broth was so delicious. It was rich and tasty, perfectly paired with the tender Cha Shu and springy noodles.

The marinated tamago (boiled egg).

Tonkotsu Ramen - Rp. 48.000
Same as Yamagoya ramen but without tamago (boiled egg)

Kakuni Cha Shu Don - Rp. 45.000
This Cha Shu with spring onions on the top of shredded white cabbage and rice was another favorite of mine.

A decent curry rice with fried prawn.

G.B Bistro & Dessert at Senayan City, Jakarta

Two weeks ago, I had a chance to try a new bistro named G.B Bistro at Senayan City. G.B Bistro used to be a gelato bar since 2003 but recently expanded to become a bistro.

The gelato bar.

Chicken & Watermelon Salad - Rp. 65.000
I would give a thumb up for this salad. The idea of using wasabi mayonnaise as the dressing is a good idea.

Mexican Pizza - Rp. 85.000
I definitely would love to come back again for this delicious thin crust with crunchy tortilas and jalapeno named Mexican Pizza.

Nasi Goreng Cabe Ijo with Roast Duck - Rp. 85.000
The roast duck on the top of this fried rice mixed with green chili was tender and flavorful.

Sweet N Sour Oxtail - Rp. 95.000
This spaghetti with sweet and sour sauce tasted like a mixed of western and asian dish. The oxtail was a bit dry.

Roast Chicken - Rp. 97.500
I enjoyed this half oven-roasted chicken served with choice of sauce (blackpepper, mushroom, lemon herb, garlic butter), potatoes (choices: fries, rosemary baby potatoes, mashed potatoes) and side vegetables.
.

Dark Chocolate Soil Dessert - Rp. 65.000
Chocolate brownies and oreo dirt with choice of gelato under it.

Waffle Temptation  - Rp. 79.500
A good hot crispy waffle served with two scoops gelato.

Apple Crumble - Rp. 65.000
This warm, classic apple dessert served with gelato was totally delectable!

Kuo Wang, PIK

I was at Food Plaza which is a food court inside the fresh market in Pantai Indah Kapuk area.  My colleague told me that there is a good place named Kuo Wang for tofu flower (dou hua - 豆花). Kuo Wang is not only selling tofu flower but also other desserts and drinks.

I ordered for cold tofu flower.

Ginger palm sugar syrup.

Kembang Tahu - Rp. 12.000
This tofu flower was really good! Love the silky and smooth texture.

Mazel Tov at Puri Indah Mall

About a month ago, I met up with JenzCorner at Puri Indah Mall. I just finished my lunch at Sushi Kiosk when Jenz arrived, thus I accompanied Jenz to have her lunch. She chose this wine and lounge place called Mazel Tov to give it a try because of some good reviews about this place.

Outdoor area where customers can smoke.

In the inside, it has an elegant decor and nice ambiance, but the music background was so loud. I even had to ask the waitress to lower the music volume.

There are selections of wine, cocktails, mocktails and beers.

I guess because there were no other customers beside us during that time so the waitresses had nothing really to do; they were talking and gossiping among them very loud. I had no problem with it as long as they kept their voices low. First was the very loud music then the very loud noise from the waitresses. Seriously, it was absolutely annoying!

Red Snapper Montpellier - Rp. 79.000
Pan fried fillet of red snapper on a bed of spaghetti pasta with cream spinach served with creamy sauce and sauted basillicum leaves. The sauce totally looked messy. Good thing that the taste was not as messy as the sauce.

Left: Loose Leaf Tea - Rp. 38.000
Right: Blended Cappuccino - Rp. 48.000
Jenz had a glass of loose leaf tea and I ordered the blended cappuccino that tasted only like sugar water with cream.

Sushi Kiosk, Puri Indah Mall

Sushi Kiosk is a spin-off of Sushi Tei. I actually like the concept of Sushi Kiosk which is "grab and go" where customers can directly choose, pick, pay and eat there or take away.  But with the same average price as Sushi Tei, I still prefer to eat sushi at Sushi Tei.

Sushi in a box - Rp. 47.000
Not really impressed with the sushi.
The rice was mushy and the fish did not really taste fresh.

Besides, I'm also not a fan of wasabi paste in sachet.

SumoBoo, Taman Anggrek Mall

It's like everyone is talking about Sumoboo these days and it definitely made me eagerly to find out how good it is. A couple week ago, I went to Sumoboo in Pantai Indah Kapuk but the line was so long. My colleague and I were already too tired to wait thus we ended up in Capitea.

When I heard, Sumoboo opened its branch in Taman Anggrek mall, I was pretty excited to give it a try.

I went there with my ex-colleague yesterday. It was around 10 am. I couldn't believe it to see there was already a line. All the tables were occupied.

I looked to the menu and wanted to order the Nutella bomb as being recommended by a lot of people. Too bad, it was not ready and the waitress could not tell when it would be ready. I asked for other desserts but most of them are not available at this branch yet.

At the end, I ordered
SumoBoo Kakigori - Rp. 45.000
On the menu it says, this dessert contains of red beans, green tea ice cream, egg pudding, big boba, mochi, sliced almond, taro and nata de coco. I could not find the big boba (well, there were three white bobas but not big, ordinary size of boba), then I wondered where were the taro and nata de coco? I dug under the shredded ice covered with chocolate powder but nothing was there.

I was quite disappointed when I tried this dessert. Nothing special about the taste. Totally lack of originality.

Capitea, PIK

A couple weeks ago, my colleague and I wanted to try a famous dessert place in PIK area but it was so crowded. We were already tired and thirsty from walking so we ended up to have a drink in Capitea (not far from the famous dessert place).

There were only a couple of tables occupied when we got inside Capitea. Nice interior. Comfortable seats but my only complaint is I got bitten by several mosquitoes in that air-conditioner room :(

There's only one staff who done everything for the customers - taking order, doing the cashier, making the drinks.

Osmanths Peach Tea - Rp. 21.000 (L)
I like fruity tea especially peach flavor. It's nice and refreshing.

Pala Adas Indonesian Bistro, PIK

A new Indonesian bistro named Pala Adas (means: Nutmeg Fennel) just opened in Pantai Indah Kapuk, North Jakarta. Pala Adas is proudly to offer an impressive, delicious, healthy and creative selection of Indonesian dishes. The chef who is also one of the owners of Pala Adas told me that he carefully prepared all the dishes in a healthy way such as using good ingredients and very less of cooking oil.

The interior of Pala Adas displays a mix of traditional Indonesian culture with contemporary touches.

Bebek Cabe Ijo (1/2 duck) - Rp. 78.000
A half deep fried  duck served with green chili. I was quite happy that the green chili was not too spicy so I could enjoy this delicious crispy duck.

Gurame Matah - Rp. 72.000
This fried carp fish dish with Matah (Balinese chili) is definitely for spicy food lover.

Sate Pala Adas - Rp. 30.000
I really liked this satay! The beef was boiled with Indonesian spices for hours before served on bamboo skewers and Serundeng (sauteed grated coconut with spices).

Soup Buntut - Rp. 78.000
Another favorite dish is the oxtail soup. The soup was really good and the meat of oxtail was so tender.

Nasi Pandan - Rp. 8.000
I enjoyed this fragrant and tasty rice.

Healthy Juice - Rp. 20.000
Pineapple, lemon, celery and Chinese cabbag (caisim). A creative drink that tasted good.
Tropical Dragon - Rp. 30.000
Dragon fruit, banana and yogurt. A fresh creamy drink that paired nicely with the spicy dishes.
