  2. laveena: The taste was a bit different than those Indian food that I've tried before. Most of the Indian food during this event were really spicy and full of herbs. Probably also because very authentic, not like the ones that I tried here in Jakarta which might be already modified to local taste. Are these North Indian food?

  3. You are 100% correct, it is North Indian food, Roganjosh is from Kashmir, Gulauti kebab is from Lucknow, Amritsari macchi (fish), Tandoori dishes and the kheer which is really firni (rice pudding) are Punjabi dishes. It's typical restaurant fare which tends to be rich in fat (oil, cream, cashew nut paste), is extra spicy and oily. In home cooking people use less oil and don't go overboard with the spices or masala to bring out taste.

As for herbs, they just dunk a lot of coriander on top of everything as a garnish, I hate that. hehe

Here's wishing you a Happy Diwali Selby, :) may all your dreams and wishes comes true.
