Teochew Chendul at Gurney Plaza, Penang

I have heard about the famous Teochew Chendul that sells chendul dessert in a roadside stall at Lebuh Kweng Kee in Penang Road. Too bad, I didn't have the chance to visit Penang Road to try the chendul.

On my last day of my stay in Penang, Chen - a blogger from Penang who I've known for a decade, brought me to one of the Teochew Chendul outlets in Gurney Plaza to have our dinner. I didn't order the chendul because I still want to have a taste of the chendul at the original place. Hope to visit Penang again and try the famous original Teochew Chendul on Penang Road.

These are what we ordered:

Assam Laksa - RM. 7.90
Aromatic noodles in tangy fish gravy topped with shredded fish.

Teochew Kuang Jiang - RM. 5.90
Fried Yam served with chili sauce.

Teochew Homemad Rojak - RM. 6.90
sliced fresh fruits mixed with tasty fermented shrimp paste topped with roasted peanuts and sprinkled with sesame seeds.

I like this refreshing nutmeg juice.

Teh Tarik in Little India, Penang

On the 3rd day in Penang, my colleagues and I had a city tour (Little India, China Town, Anglican Church, Kuan Yin Chinese Temple, Mahamariamman Indian Temple, Kapitan Keling Mosque).

Kapitan Keling Mosque, built in the 19th century by Indian Muslim traders in George Town.

Kuan Im Teng temple at Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling.

The famous "Little Children on a Bicycle" Mural at Armenian Street, George Town.

One thing for sure to have during a hot day is Teh Tarik. We managed to find a stall of Teh Tarik in Little India after walking around under the sun.

Brewing the tea leaves.

With hot water.

Added condense milk and also evaporated milk.

Pull... pull...pull....

Pour over the ice cubes in the plastic bag.

Leong Kee Tim Sum, Penang, Malaysia

I'd been craving so much for the dim sum in Penang thus I joined my colleagues to have dim sum  for breakfast. We left the hotel around 6.30 am and it was still so dark outside, not like in Jakarta where 5.30 in the morning is usually already starting to be bright.
Fried dim sum.

Steamed dim sum.

Siao Mai, Ha Kao and chicken feet are the MUST dim sum :)

We had much more dim sum than what it showed on this picture. 3 to 4 times quantity. The dim sum was so delicious, even tasted much better than those dim sum at the famous Chinese restaurants in Jakarta. I couldn't believe that it only costed RM 5 per person. Very satisfied!

Fried Lobak.

The best salted egg bak pao I've ever eaten.

Chrysanthemum tea. I wonder why the color is so dark but bitter tasted slightly.

Meat bun.

Dessert 'n Smile, Chew Jetty, Penang

Dessert 'n Smile is a new dessert place in a heritage wooden house over the water at Chew Jetty - one of the famous tourist destination places in Penang, Malaysia.

Dessert 'n Smile sells freshly baked puff and delicious ice cream from 9am until 7pm everyday.

There are 3 types of puff: original, charcoal, crunchy.
3 pcs. - RM 6.00
6 pcs. - RM. 11.00

Filling with the puff.

The Durian puff (charcoal, crunchy, original).

The filling: Durian, Chocolate and Matcha (green tea).

I like this charcoal puff with Matcha filling.
It tasted good and also unique from the charcoal puff and sweet Matcha.

I really recommended the ice cream at Dessert n' Smile.
There are four flavors of ice cream: Cempedak, Durian, Matcha and Oreo.
1 Ice Cream - RM. 8.00

As a durian lover, I totally indulged the Durian ice cream. It's very good and fragrant. But as for my colleagues, the Cempedak ice cream becomes the winner. Btw, I adore the cute cat logo of Dessert n' Smile :)
