Hong Kong Cafe, Jakarta

Finally, after standing 20 minutes for getting a table, I had a nice dinner with an old very good friend at Hong Kong Cafe - a franchise of Asian eateries from Singapore that already opened 2 branches in Jakarta, before we ended the night with the Iron Man 2 movie.

Hong Kong Fried Carrot cake with XO sauce.
A nice and tasty dish for a starter although the chili pepper flakes can be quite fiery.

Then the Chef's recommendations which is Famous HK Baked Rice became our main selected dish. This HK Baked Rice is very popular in Hongkong because it's a mix of oriental and western taste of Hongkong metropolitan.

Chicken Chop Mushroom Cream Sauce Baked Rice - Rp. 32.500

My choice is HKC Special Baked Rice (Seafood with cream sauce and Chicken with fresh tomato sauce) - Rp. 39.500.
It's delicious, satisfying and also great that I can have 2 kind of sauces on my baked rice.

  11. This all looks very interesting. I like rice casseroles and pilafs, so I would probably enjoy baked rice a lot.

...Fried carrot cake? Is it sweet, like American carrot cake?

  12. mica: the Hong Kong fried carrot cake tasted completely different than the American carrot cake. You gotta give a try if you can find it in Chinese restaurant, it's delicious.. but don't expect it as a cake ;)
