Combro & Misro

Combro & Misro is an authentic finger food from West Java.
It's made from grated cassava root (tapioca) and grated coconut plus a pinch of salt. It always filled with palm/coconut sugar for sweet version called "Misro" and oncom (soybean sediment which is a traditional staple food from West Java) for salty version called "Combro". Thanks to Sepoi who clarified it :)

Combro & Misro tasted crunchy on the outside and a bit chewy on the inside.

  5. Combro is actually referring to the salty version, with oncom inside, thus Com(b)ro = Oncom dijero* (Oncom inside). While its sweet cousin with palm sugar is Misro = Amis dijero* (sweet inside).
    I always prefer salty snacks, so I can eat combro by the bucket if I can..the texture and combination is so different from the usual fried snacks.

    We hv a cassava "kueh" here.. but chinese one..sweet, sticky & chewy. made w alot of coconut milk, its additive!

    doggybloggy: I don't think you can use the leftover of soybean to make this finger food because this one is made from cassava, definitely a different texture than soybean.
