Crystal Jade La Mian, Jakarta

Crystal Jade is established for almost 20 years in Singapore and so far, it also has opened restaurants in many countries like China, Hongkong, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and Japan. I have been dining in Crystal Jade since 1994 when it firstly opened in Jakarta.

The restaurant has a nice ambiance and I think the service is good, nice and friendly waiters. As for the food, I prefer the taste in the old days ;)

Es Kacang (Beans Ice)

The weather has been so hot lately.... So, this afternoon, I can't resist a bowl of Es Kacang (beans ice) which is pretty nice to cool a bit the mouth and throat :)

Red beans (kacang merah)

Mug beans (kacang ijo)

Fermented tapioca (tape)

Black leaf jelly (cincau hitam)

Put all in a small bowl
Add vanilla syrup and coconut milk.

Shave ice

Drizzle some rose syrup and condense milk on the top
Mix it altogether... and it's ready :)

Mangkok Putih - The Noodle Bar

Yesterday, after a meeting with my friends (we are volunteers in an organization that related to NGO), we went for a late lunch at Mangkok Putih in Citos (Cilandak Town Square).

Mangkok Putih which means White Bowl is established almost 10 years in Jakarta. It's a local chain restaurant.

Even though, they claimed as a Noodle Bar but I don't think they have their own specialty of noodles and it's not only noodles being served here but also other kind of food and mixed between Western and Asian food. As for my opinion, the prices are a bit pricey for their mediocre taste.

Pho24

Pho24 is a chain restaurant of Vietnamese rice noodle soup with location in Vietnam, Indonesia (as the first established overseas), Cambodia, the Philippines, Hongkong, Sydney and I think more other countries. I've seen some Pho24 restaurants in Jakarta but I didn't have the chance to give it a try until today.

My friend was going to pick me up at a meeting point in TIS - Tebet Indrayana Square which is a place with some well known restaurants. When I got to that place, my friend was still on his way thus since it's lunch time, I thought of having something to eat, walked around and the restaurant of Pho24 was just in front of my eyes :)

Vietnamese Iced Coffee (Rp. 16.000 + 10% tax)
An aromatic Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk.

Pho Chin (Rp. 31.000 + 10% tax)

I just love the taste of the rich flavor and taste of the beef broth with tender slices of beef.

Mixed with bean sprouts, red chili, mint leaves, basil leaves, fresh onions slices and lime juice.

Exactly when I finished my delicious bowl of Pho, my friend's car was already in front of the restaurant :)
