Hot or Cold drinks?

When you are feeling thirsty on the street in Jakarta, you might can't find a hot/cold drink vending machine easily but no worries because there are so many drink vendors on the streets that are selling hot or cold drinks. Your choice, hot or cold drink? :)

Hot Drinks on the bicycle
Made from instant coffee sachets

Cold drinks on the carts

Soft drinks in bottles or sealed plastic cups.
If you want soft drink in cans then you need to buy it in the supermarket.

The cold box

The most popular drink in Indonesia "Teh Botol" which literally means bottled tea. Teh botol is sweetened jasmine tea and it's best served cold.

Btw, the Korean twins - Janice and Sonia, just uploaded their new video and I just love it!!! Can't stop listening! Hope you all will enjoy it as much as I do :)

I want nobody nobody but you, I want nobody nobody but you
How can I be with another, I don't want any other
I want nobody nobody nobody nobody

Why are you trying to, to make me leave ya
I know what you're thinking
Baby why aren't you listening
How can I just
Just love someone else and
Forget you completely
When I know you still love me

Telling me you're not good enough
My life with you is just too tough
You know it's not right so
Just stop and come back boy
How can this be
When we were meant to be

I want nobody nobody but you, I want nobody nobody but you
How can I be with another, I don't want any other
I want nobody nobody nobody nobody

I want nobody nobody but you, I want nobody nobody but you
How can I be with another, I don't want any other
I want nobody nobody nobody nobody

Why can't we just, just be like this
Cause it's you that I need and nothing else until the end
Who else can ever make me feel the way I
I feel when I'm with you, no one will ever do

Telling me you're not good enough
My life with you is just too tough
You know me enough so
You know what I need boy
Right next to you is where I need to be.

I don't want no body, body
I don't want no body, body

Honey you know it's you that I want, it's you that I need
Why can't you see

I want nobody nobody but you, I want nobody nobody but you
How can I be with another, I don't want any other
I want nobody nobody nobody nobody

Hong Kong Cafe, Jakarta

Finally, after standing 20 minutes for getting a table, I had a nice dinner with an old very good friend at Hong Kong Cafe - a franchise of Asian eateries from Singapore that already opened 2 branches in Jakarta, before we ended the night with the Iron Man 2 movie.

Hong Kong Fried Carrot cake with XO sauce.
A nice and tasty dish for a starter although the chili pepper flakes can be quite fiery.
Hong Kong Cafe

Then the Chef's recommendations which is Famous HK Baked Rice became our main selected dish. This HK Baked Rice is very popular in Hongkong because it's a mix of oriental and western taste of Hongkong metropolitan.

Chicken Chop Mushroom Cream Sauce Baked Rice - Rp. 32.500
Hong Kong Cafe

My choice is HKC Special Baked Rice (Seafood with cream sauce and Chicken with fresh tomato sauce) - Rp. 39.500.
It's delicious, satisfying and also great that I can have 2 kind of sauces on my baked rice.

Tukang Cilok (Aci Dicolok/ Fried tapioca balls)

Hey.... Let's see what is that guy selling?

Oh.. that's Cilok which is an abbreviation from Aci Dicolok. Literally, it means tapioca starch being stabbed.

Cilok is a very simple chewy snack from West Java. It's only tapioca starch mixed with water and a pinch of salt to become a dough, then roll the dough into small balls. Thread the small balls on the bamboo skewers. So... It's ready to be fried in the hot oil.

Before you eat it, don't forget to dip the Cilok into peanut sauce :)

Chinatown, Jakarta

If you visit the Chinatown in Jakarta, don't compare it with other Chinatown because you will not really feel the Chinatown atmosphere :)

So... what can you find in the Chinatown beside Chinese medication stores, some stores of Chinese stuff?

Snacks and candies
Fruits
Durian - King of fruits, and Dragon fruit (behind)
Watermelon, Melon, oranges that don't look orange enough...
and snake fruit.

If you are hungry, there's an alley with a lot of food vendors.

Almost at the end of the alley...
.... and this cart got my intention :)so many varieties!

Fried prawns in batter.
Fish egg with bird chili eyes, scallions, galangal, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves and coconut milk

Fried peanuts with shallots, anchovies, red chili.

Squid with green chili, red chili and tomato.

Revisit PEPeNERO Cucina Italiana

It's my second visit to Pepenero Cucina Italiana restaurant with my ex-colleagues.

This time, although it's the same restaurant but we tried different dishes and also dined at the outside of the restaurant.

I feel that my first visit to this restaurant was nicer than this second visit, probably it's because that time, we ate inside the restaurant and the choice of dishes were better. I had the Rigatoni Stracicati which wasn't as good as I thought. The rigatoni was still too hard and as for the Pancetta E Grana (pizza), its edge got burnt and tasted bitter, too long in the oven.

Appetizer - complimentary.
