Wahaha Pork Ribs, Bali

A week ago, I was in Bali for a 4 days and 3 nights outing with my colleagues. We arrived in Bali in the evening and then headed to one of the most famous places in Bali for pork ribs named Wahaha Pork Ribs in Seminyak Kuta area for our first dinner in Bali.

The restaurant is nice and cozy. The cute pig panting on the main restaurant wall definitely catched people's attention.

Wahaha Pork Ribs

Full portion - Rp. 150.000

Half portion - Rp. 95.000

The signature pork ribs is tender, lean, sweet and juicy. It is marinated with Balinese spices and glazed with BBQ sauce then fire grilled. The dinner at Wahaha Pork ribs was the most satisfying meal during this Bali trip :)

Sop Konro Karebosi, Kelapa Gading

A treat by a friend at the famous Makassar (South Sulawesi) style of ribs named Sop Konro Karebosi in Kelapa Gading area, North Jakarta.

The man was preparing the Sop Konro.

It was crowded during lunch time. 

The ribs meat was totally very tender.

Tasty soup with the tender ribs and fried shallot on the top.

Konro Bakar - Rp. 65.000
Barbecued ribs with creamy peanut sauce.

Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh at Taman Anggrek Mall

I had a late dinner at Ya Hua Bak Kut Teh with a friend. We wanted to give a try this quite famous Bak Kut Teh restaurant that has been established since 1973 in Singapore. 

What we ordered:

Bak Kut - Rp. 55.500

I could taste the pepper but it was way too salty.
My friend even had to ask for an extra bowl of pork stock added with hot water.

Garlic was fried too long that caused bitter after taste.

Braised Salted Vegetable - Rp. 18.500

Good, sweet and salty. Love the texture.

Chinese Tea - Rp. 28.500

TGI Fridays, Central Park Mall Jakarta

Last Wednesday evening, I had a dinner with an old friend at TGI Fridays, Central Park. I really enjoyed the catch-up time with him again and also the food. The only thing that I did not enjoy at this restaurant that evening was the bad service; how difficult to get the waitress and waiter attention, how slow the service by the waitress when we asked for her assistance such as bringing pepper and refill the empty glass, and also how rude the waiter was when he tried to offer us for a dessert.

Cream of Mushroom - Rp. 38.900

A rich, creamy soup, loaded with mushrooms.

Bacon-Crusted Baby Back Ribs - Rp. 279.900

A rack of baby back ribs, cooked until juicy and tender, glazed with Campionship BBQ sauce and crusted with a double portion crispy bacon, served with crispy seasoned fries and coleslaw.

The meat is totally tender and delicious!

Championship BBQ Chicken - Rp. 139.900

Roasted half chicken grilled and topped with TGIF Championship BBQ sauce. Served over crispy onion rings and mashed potatoes.

My friend and I had brunch at the 3rd outlet of Song Fa Bak Kut Teh at Central Park Mall.

The outlet is small but cozy.

My friend and I chose Oolong Tea.

Salted Vegetables - Rp. 18.000 (small size)

Pork Ribs Soup - Rp. 88.000 (Large size)

The soup was flavorful and peppery according to my taste bud but my friend said it wasn't peppery enough.

Love the meaty tender ribs.

Mee Sua - Rp. 15.000

I had Mee Sua to accompany the ribs. My friend preferred rice.

Xiao Bai Cai - Rp. 30.000 (Small size)

Crunchy Chinese cabbage.

Almond Pudding - Rp. 28.000

I was quite disappointed with this dessert because it was mostly only crushed ice topped with little almond pudding, lychee, tangerine and jelly. Totally different than the one that I ate at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh at Mangga Besar.

Applebee's Neighborhood and Grill, Plaza Senayan Jakarta

Applebee's Neighborhood Grill and Bar has finally opened its first restaurant in Indonesia. This American largest casual dining chain is located on the 5th floor at Plaza Senayan. It is offering  a friendly atmosphere with signature bar and grill menu. 

Appetziers Sampler - Rp 189.000

Mozarella sticks, Spinach & Artichoke dip, Cheese Quesadilla grande (contains beef bacon) and boneless wings. My favorite is the spinach & artichoke dip.

Fiesta Lime Chicken - Rp. 119.000

A succulent grilled chicken done fiesta-style with a zesty lime sauce. Topped with Jack-cheddar and Mexi-ranch. Served with crisp tortilla strips, seasoned rice and fresh pico de gallo.

Cowboy Burger - Rp 139.000

Big size burger topped with crispy onion strings, melted white cheddar cheese and smoked beef bacon. Served on a toasted bun with honey bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles

This burger absolutely was fulfilling but somehow the juicy patty was bland.

Cheese Burger Flatbread - Rp. 109.000

Seasoned juicy ground beef, American cheese, sauteed onions beef bacon bits and parmesan cheese

Korean Short Ribs - Rp. 169.000

The Korean style short ribs grilled was really tender and juicy but it was quite salty for my taste bud. It is served with white rice, sauteed spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms. Homemade soya with chilies.

Triple Chocolate Meltdown - Rp. 69.000

A moist chocolate cake topped with both dark and white chocolate. Served with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge.

Applebee's Mud Slide - Rp. 79.000

This famous drink is blended with Kahlua, vanila ice cream, chocolate syrup & milk 

Apple Bay Breeze - Rp. 79.000

A refreshing drink. Apple liqueur, pineapple and cranberry juices.

Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, Mangga Besar

 

After successfully opening the famous Song Fa Bak Kut Teh in Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) last July, another Song Fa Bak Kut Teh branch is opened in Jayakarta Food Place, Mangga Besar (The restaurant is actually facing to Jalan Hayam Wuruk).

Two weeks ago, I went there for a food tasting invitation. I arrived around 11.30 am and the restaurant was still empty.

But less than an hour, the restaurant became full.

It was totally a delightful feast!

The pork ribs were fabulous. So tender and full of flavor. I really enjoyed the soup. The soup was aromatic and tasted peppery from the white pepper and garlic. 

The best part is when your bowl has run out of the soup, the staff will continually pour the soup using a kettle. Do not worry, the refill of the soup is free of charge :)

Fresh and crunchy Chinese cabbage.

Braised Chicken Feet with Beancurd skin - Rp. 30.000 (S), Rp. 45.000 (L)

Interestingly that the braised chicken feet are paired with beancurd. The outcome of both was enjoyable.

Braised Trotters with Intestines - Rp. 60.000 (S), Rp. 78.000 (L)

The trotters and intestines were really good marinated.

 Almond Pudding - Rp. 22.000

Almond pudding with mango and sago on the top. A nice dessert to end the delicious lunch.
