Han Gang Restaurant

My friend was craving for Korean food and since we were meeting in Taman Anggrek mall, I suggested the Han Gang which is the only Korean restaurant in that mall.

I didn't order because I just had my lunch, so my friend ordered the food as below:

Banchan - Appetizer - free of charge

kim chi, pickles, anchovies, salad, roll egg with seaweed

Maeun Teokpoki - Rp. 38.000

Hot Spicy Korean Rice Cake

D Yache Bibimbab - Rp. 39.000

Warm rice topped with egg, namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables), gochujang (chili pepper paste) and sliced beef.

The way to eat Bibimbap, just mix everything in the bowl :D

Phat Bing Su - Rp. 35.000

Shaved ice with ice cream and fruits (strawberry, kiwi, melon)

5% service charge + 10% tax

currency: 1 USD = Rp. 9.000

My friend really enjoyed the food in this restaurant, especially the Maeun Teokpoki. Next time, it will be my turn to come here for my lunch ;)

Carl’s Jr. - Hand-breaded Chicken Tenders

I believe all of you already know that Carl's Jr. is an American fast-food chain with a reputation of the higher-end fast food franchises

Last week, I was invited for their launching of "Freshly Prepared Hand-breaded Chicken Tenders". It's interesting because Carl. Jr is more known for their fresh take on burgers.

Carl's Jr. is the only fast food chain in Jakarta that provide a free flow drinks concept.

I was quite surprised when the box of Chicken tenders got on to my table, I guess I was expecting a little bit bigger box :) Served with 3 dipping sauce - BBQ, Mayonnaise and chili sauce, I gave a try of the BBQ and Mayonnaise.

The 3 strips of chicken were absolutely tender and moist. The breading was crunchy but I must say that it tasted overly salty for my taste bud. Probably it would be perfect if I eat it with rice or french fries.

Shabu Slim

A few weeks ago, my Filipino colleagues and I went to Central Park for a dinner. We decided to give a try this Shabu Slim restaurant that offers buffet with the price of Rp. 112.000 (plus service charge + tax) per person.

After we were escorted to our table, the waiter told us that the time to eat here is only 1 hour and 30 minutes. It shows on the paper and there's a big digital clock hanging on the wall. So, as soon as we decided what kind of broth we wanted for the shabu/hot pot (3 kind of broths: tom yum, chicken or soy bean broth), they started our time. One of my colleagues couldn't stop of looking to the digital clock, seriously it's not nice to know that our time was limited. We couldn't really enjoy our time for eating and talking because we had to cook and eat in a rush.

The U Coffee

It was already late around 10 pm, but my friends and I still wanted to hang out at a place to catch up some stories thus we decided to try out this place called "The U Coffee", which got our attention as a coffee bar with a bistro and a library.

When I stepped in, I could feel the nice ambiance of semi classic/semi modern with a touch of vintage.

It's quite impressive to see a pretty range collection of imported and also local books, plus some games such as checkers, monopoly, scrabbles, etc

My friends and I decided to sit in the U library and tried their beverages plus a snack.

Ya-Udah Bistro

Last Friday, I went together with my colleagues for a dinner. One of them suggested "Ya Udah Bistro" which located in Central of Jakarta.

When we arrived around 5.30 pm, there were already several customers having their meals and most of them were expatriates. I was quite surprised that with the hot climate in Jakarta this Bistro has no air-conditioner at all.

The Roast Chicken is my favorite dish here, but we had to wait for 1 1/2 hours until the Roast Chicken was ready out of the grill. Anyway, it was worth it ;) Later on, I was informed that in case, we don't want to wait for the Roast Chicken, we can pre-order it by phone first.

Garlic Bread - Rp. 19.500

Seriously this garlic bread tasted so delicious! It's crispy but also fluffy and moist from the garlic butter. I really enjoyed every bite of it.

Streaky Bacon - Rp. 31.500

Another great appetizer but for sure, we all had to totally ignore the cholesterol from each layer bacon that we indulged! The 6 rashers of the fried streaky bacon were so yummy - crispy and as for the fat, I could feel it melted nicely in my mouth.

Potato Wedges - Rp. 16.000

The fried spicy potato wedges were quite decent. Nothing really to shout about but yes, the plate got empty fast :)

Chefs Salad - Rp. 25.500

A large bowl of salad consisted of tomato, radish, carrots, cucumber, sweet corn (but lack of lettuce because the restaurant was out of lettuce) sprinkled with smoked chicken strips and cheddar cheese, plus Italian dressing.

Chicken Cordon Bleu - Rp. 41.500

My colleague love this tender boneless chicken breast filled inside with cheese and ham.

Chicken Curry - Rp. 41.500

Another colleague ordered this chicken curry. According to him, the taste was a bit bland compared to Indian curry.

Black Pepper Beef - Rp. 48.500

Beef cooked with onion and paprika in Chinese black pepper gravy, sprinkled with sesame seeds.

Roast Chicken - Rp. 59.500

As I can remember, this Roast Chicken is one of the most succulent Roast Chickens that I've eaten. The meat was so tender, juicy and really well flavored.

No desserts at all because we were all so stuffed with the food. Each of us were delightful satisfied with the food especially the Roast Chicken. Well, I definitely will come again to this bistro and I think it will be very soon! ;)
