Yesterday, I attended OpenRice Food Blogger Gathering at Taiyo Sushi. It's located in Pluit, North Jakarta.

The interior of this restaurant is quite nice, simple and bright. There's a section for conveyor belt sushi in the middle of the restaurant.
Chawan Mushi - Rp. 12.000
We started with the soft delicious Steam Egg Custard. I think it's a great way to start the lunch.
Then followed with
Tempura Maki (Ebiko/Floss) - Rp. 22.000
Shrimp Tempura rolled with Ebiko/Floss. Pretty good but I prefer without the floss.
Then, there were four other fusion sushi brought to the table.
The specialty of the fusion sushi at Taiyo Sushi is the raw fish on the sushi. It will be heated for just a few seconds with a torch to get a smokey flavor. Frankly speaking, the taste of all the sushi being served on the table was the same because the dominant taste of mayonnaise. Thus, it's quite hard for me to tell there's a smokey flavor from the fish except if I ate it separately from the rice and the filling of the sushi.
Unagi Salmon Special - Rp. 54.000
Unagi and cucumber topped with Salmon and Tobiko. I wish I could taste the Unagi inside the sushi.
Spicy Salmon Fry - Rp. 26.000
Spicy Salmon with Spicy Mayo.
Aburi Mozzarella Roll - Rp. 56.000
Crabstick, Tamago topped with Salmon Mozzarella and Chicken Floss. I hardly could taste the Mozzarella.
Taiyo Special Roll - Rp. 52.000
Salmon and Cucumber, topped with Aburi (half-broiled) Salmon.
Kare Pasta - Rp. 45.000
Beef Fettucine with Kare Sauce. Nice and creamy but a bit too sweet and spicy for me.
