Yoshinoya Jakarta

It's been more than 15 years ago when I had my first beef bowl at Yoshinoya restaurant. It was when my Japanese friend visited me and she really missed Japanese food. It's interesting how the Japanese are so much into their food even when they are traveling outside their country. They are always looking for their food.

Yoshinoya is the largest chain of beef bowl restaurant first opened in 1899 in Tokyo. It's claimed as the Japan's No. 1 Beef Bowl. Their first branch in Jakarta was opened in 1994 but it closed due to the economic crisis in Indonesia then they have opened it again since 2010. So far, there are already 8 branches around Jakarta.

OMO! Chicken

I'd already passed by at OMO! Chicken many times and the saying on their wall, "Korean Chicken Cooked with Canola Oil!" actually got my attention. Beside, they also claimed that no preservatives, no added MSG, no pork, no lard, no flavor enhancers and no artificial coloring in their food. Anyway, I didn't give it a try until a colleague recommend it to me last week.
Their decoration is quite cute; with all those little chicks toys plus a big one that sit on the sofas and in front of the restaurant. There's also a big screen TV showing Korean pop songs. I like the casual ambience in here.

Omo 's Drinks:
Korean Barley Tea - Rp. 7.272
Yuza Sensation (Citrus fruit juice) - Rp. 13.636
It's my first time to try Korean Barley Tea. It has a nice roasty taste and also refreshing.

Vegetable Salad - Rp. 18.181
tossed with mayonnaise and mustard.
The dressing tasted pretty tang and acid.

Popcorn Chicken - Rp. 18.182
Bite sized boneless fried chicken.

Rice Ball - Rp. 18.182
with anchovy and seaweed.

Chicken Curry Burger - Rp. 22.727
Burger with chicken, vege and Korean Curry sauce.
I really like this Chicken Curry Burger! The breast chicken tasted perfect with the curry inside the burger. It's so tasty that made me wanting for more.

Nasi Tumpeng

In order to celebrate the Indonesian Independence Day last Wednesday, there was a competition to make Nasi Tumpeng at my work place.

It's interesting to see the creativeness. Some used white rice and even brown rice to make the Nasi Tumpeng, where usually yellow rice (white rice cooked in lightly seasoned coconut milk and turmeric) is used. If you are interested to learn more about Nasi Tumpeng, you can read here.
