Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta Celebrates Easter with A Wonderful Petting Zoo.


On Friday, 14 April,  Good Friday Buffet Dinner priced at Rp 368.000++ per person, and if you have a BCA Platinum Card, you can enjoy 20% off! 

Meanwhile, an Easter Brunch on Saturday, 15 and Sunday, 16 April is priced at Rp 458.000++ per person. The children can get a taste of life beyond the city with a mini petting zoo at Signatures Restaurant terrace. In addition,  a “pay 1 for 2” with BCA Platinum Card. Children under the age of five dine free, while children aged 6 to 12 get 50% off.

Steffi's Birthday Dinner Party at Lyon, Mandarin Oriental Jakarta


This evening, I was invited by Steffi Wijaya to her birthday dinner party at Lyon - a fine French dining restaurant in Mandarin Oriental Jakarta. 

Amuse Bouche 
Complimentary by the Chef.

The Starters
Escargot  - Rp. 108.000
Escargot in pesto sauce. I really love this lovely dish! 

I even dipped the complimentary bread into the pesto sauce.

The Soup
Onion Soup with Aged Comté Cheese - Rp. 118.000
A heart-warming sweet taste soup from the caramelized vidalia onion consomme, combined perfectly with the French Comté cheese and bread on the top of the soup.

Main Course
Grilled Steak Frites - Rp. 388.000
A very juicy and tender Nebraska Farm Premium Black Angus grilled with "Cafe de Paris" butter.


Dessert
Birthday Cake ordered from Cake Et Cetera
Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to try this Chocolate Cake with Oreo and Cream. because I needed to catch the Trans Jakarta to go home before the operation hours ended.

New Signature Dish Menu at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta

Last Saturday, I had a chance to try the new signature dish menu at Shang Palace, Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta. 

I was introduced to Chef Christopher Chai - Executive Chinese Chef who created the 10 new signature dish menu. Chef Christopher Chai from Ipoh, Malaysia and has been with Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta in 2008 as Chinese banquet chef then promoted an the Executive Chinese Chef in Edsa Shangri-La, Manila before he joined back again Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta in late 2014.

Here are the four out of ten new signature dishes presented by Chef Christoper Chai that I tried and enjoyed all of the taste.

Deep-fried Prawn Coated with Corn Flakes

Baked Scallop stuffed with Shrimp Paste and Home-Made Bean Curd in BBQ Sauce - Rp. 148.000 (R), Rp. 222.000 (M), Rp. 296.000 (L)

Beautiful and so tender.

Braised Lohan Vegetables Stuffed in Bean Curd Skin Money Bag - Rp. 58.000

Teratai Chinese Restaurant, Hotel Borobudur Jakarta


Less than a week since my last dinner at Miyama Japanese Restaurant at Hotel Borobudur and I was already back again there to try another restaurant. This time, it was the popular Chinese restaurant named Teratai (it means lotus in Indonesian language), serving mostly Cantonese dishes.

There are total of 4 private rooms  for 6 guests and 1 private room 16 guests.


SOUP
served individually.
Triple boiled pigeon bouillon with dried cordyceps - Rp. 108.000
 

CRUSTACEAN
Live Prawns - Rp. 144.000 (market price)
Prepared flambeed with Chinese alcohol,salt and pepper, garlic, scallion and red chili.

Served as a dish named Drunken Prawns.

Shrimp with mayonnaise - Rp. 168.000 

Deep-fried fish with spicy sambal chilies sauce - Rp. 408.000 (market price)
This authentic Malaysian cookery is only available during May 2015.
We chose the Marble Goby fish or mostly known as ikan malas in Indonesian language.
