Gartien Pineapple Cake

Gartien (小田佳园) is a Penang based company, specializing in Pineapple Cake. 

For the filling, it uses pineapple from a plantation in Nibong Tebal, Penang. The pineapple are skinned and cut into cubes then cook for 12 hours with raw sugar and honey which result juicy, tangy and lightly sweet pineapple filling with a hint of caramel and molasses. You still can chew the chunks of pineapples in the filling.   

Well, according to the info, actually every production batch has a slightly different taste because it's depend on the pineapples since this homemade pineapple cakes are made without any preservatives and artificial coloring. Therefore, the freshness of the pineapple cake can only last for 6 weeks since the production date.  

The filling from the production batch that I received, was pretty tangy and yet enjoyable. As for the golden outer layer pastry, it had quite strong buttery and milky flavors.

Best to indulge this pineapple cake with a cup of unsweetened hot tea.

SunnyHills Pineapple Cake

Finally, after waiting for quite some time, my package from SunnyHills arrived.

SunnyHills - popularly known also as Feng Li Su (鳳梨酥) is a specialty bakery, offering authentic pineapple cakes that are traditionally sourced,made, and baked in Taiwan. It has nearly 50 years of bake-house experience but established with the name of SunnyHills in year 2008.

All the ingredients being used are the finest chosen ones without additives or preservatives. The pineapples are sun-ripened which organically grown in Taiwan and took 18 months to reach its full flavor. Each pineapple only can be used to make six to seven pineapple cakes. The other finest ingredients are natural New  Zealand  butter,  Japanese gourmet flour, and  the  healthiest  red plump‐yolked  eggs  from local  farm.

I really like the bag and box design. The moon and  the rabbit are cute. I think SunnyHills pineapple cakes will become a nice gift for family and friends, even  for Muslim friends since it certified halal. 

For the serving size, one serving of this SunnyHills pineapple cakes is actually enough despite how delicious it tastes. The filling of the pineapple paste is very good, not too sweet and combined with a nice tangy taste. The buttery crust is rich and smooth.

Tioti Sweets

I just received a box of macarons from Tioti Sweets. Tioti Sweets was created by three Indonesian foodies and the name Tioti came up from the phrase "Trick or treat".

A box contains of 6 macarons - Rp. 45.000 

Additional delivery cost (for Jabodetabek) - Rp. 20.000

Customers can create their own mix of flavor in one box. The current available flavors so far are chocolate, green tea, strawberry, vanilla cookies, mango and tiramisu. There will be still more flavors to come. The macarons' texture is like crust on the outside and soft on the inside, easily melted in my mouth :)

I had a delicious lunch from Heat Pasta today!

How do I know about Heat Pasta? The truth, I didn't know about Heat Pasta until I received an email from them. They informed me that they have just begun their business starting on 1 May 2012 by delivering food directly from their kitchen to the customers right after receiving the orders. As a pasta lover, it's hard for me to resist the offer from Heat Pasta to try their pasta ;)

The Heat Pasta menu is pasta with a few type of sauces and potato platters. 

Spiral Cuts - Rp. 15.000 

150gr of deep fried spiral potatoes.

Spicy Wedges - Rp. 15.000 

150 gr of Big cuts potatoes that have been spiced with Heat Pasta's secret seasoning. It's a bit spicy and nicely crispy.

Bali Porkis

Bali Porkis tweeted and asked me whether I want to try their products. First, I wasn't aware at all what's their product. Then, later on, I found out that Bali Porkis is the first company from Bali that sells frozen grilled ribs in vacuum packaging. Bali Porkis products are sent directly from Bali to Jakarta, Bandung and Yogyakarta. I got curious and agreed to try their 2 products.

It's very easy to serve it. It only need to be microwave  for 2 - 3 minutes at high level or steam  for 10 - 15 minutes.

Pork Rendang  (Rendang Babi)

The meat in the authentic Rendang dish is usually beef but Bali Porkis substitutes the beef with pork. This Pork Rendang is very delicious. The meat is so tender and moist. The Rendang gravy is not as spicy as the usual Beef Rendang at Padang restaurants which is perfect for me since I'm not really into hot spicy food.
