D'Cost Seafood Restaurant

A few weeks ago, my work place celebrated Easter and invited all the staff to have lunch at D'Cost Seafood Restaurant. It's my first time to eat in this restaurant.

I've heard a lot about D'Cost Seafood restaurant. One of the reason is that the food isn't expensive at all compared to other seafood restaurants. So far, they have opened more than 15 restaurants. Not only in Jakarta but also in the other big cities in Indonesia.

With the orange color dominated the restaurant, it gives a warm ambiance. It accommodated more than 300 seats. The service is actually quite good; waiters are nice and friendly. But as for the food, too bad, there's nothing to shout about. I feel that most of the food tasted too hot and spicy or just purely blunt. It's so mediocre but then, I guess we also can not expect too much with their range of price.

Shooting "The Maverick Chef" with Chef Alvin Leung

Yesterday, I got invited to be a guest in the shooting of a food show called "The Maverick Chef" featuring chef Alvin Leung, known also as the Demon Chef who is one of only two self-taught chefs to have ever received Michelin Stars, as he travels, eats and cooks his way around Asia.

Beside me, there're also 3 owners of the stalls/restaurants that chef Alvin Leung had visited during the show. Our part as a guest is to taste and give feedbacks on the deconstructed food created by chef Alvin Leung for the Jakarta episode.

Seriously, chef Alvin Leung really did a wonderful and surprise-filled job on his deconstructed and re-invented iconic Indonesian food.

Tukang Keripik (Chips man) - part 2

Eating chips can be so addictive and luckily, there are hundreds varieties of chips in Indonesia :)

here are 5 kind of chips.
Kue tambang (fried & twisted sweet dough), salty banana (fried banana in long thin slices), sweet banana (fried banana in short thin slices).

Fried salty talas (Talas is similar to taro - a tropical Asian plant), I'm not so sure for the name of the chip in the middle, it's like fried salty wantan skin.

I asked the vendor for a mix of each chips inside in the plastic bag. My favorite is the sweet fried banana :)

Domino's Pizza - Central Park Jakarta

Founded in 1960, Domino's Pizza is recognized as the world leader in pizza delivery and also second-largest pizza chain in the United States. I'm not so sure why after almost 50 years later (in 2008), they finally just opened in Indonesia (note: Pizza Hut opened their first restaurant in Jakarta, Indonesia in 1984).



The pizza(s) is directly made as soon as there's an order.

BIG DEAL 1 - Rp. 150.000 (included tax)


1 medium Beef Pepperoni Feast - Rp. 55.000
Tomato sauce, beef pepperoni, mozzarella cheese
1 Medium American Classic Cheeseburger - Rp. 65.000
Tomatoes sauce, onions, bacon, ground beef, 3 cheeses - American, Provolone and Cheddar.
I really like this pizza. A great combination taste of cheeseburger with pizza.



Beef Lasagna - Rp. 28.000


Chocolate Lava - Rp. 16.000/pc.

"Saus sambal" - Chili sauce
Instead of tomato ketchup, chili sauce is a must sauce for most Indonesian whenever they eat.
